What is High-Fidelity Wraparound?
Wraparound is a process that assists youth with high-risk emotional disturbances, their family, therapists and others to create an individualized goal-directed network of care. This network develops and encourages the family's use of natural supports (e.g., pastor, neighbor, relative) and informal supports (e.g., job manager, recreation coach), all the while decreasing the family's dependence on formal supports (e.g., probation officer, child welfare case manager.)
Why do High-Fidelity Wraparound?
Research suggests that high-risk youth with emotional disturbances do better when a natural and informal support system works along with therapy. High-Fidelity is simply the faithful recreation of the original sound, which means our job is to faithfully execute the original family-driven model.
How do we do Wraparound?
The network of care is actually a Wraparound Team which consists of anyone the family decides. GRN Community Service Board automatically provides two team members at no cost to the family. These team members are the Care Coordinator who assists the family in coordinating and planning services, and the Family Support Partner who advocates for the family. All other team members are selected by the family. These team members meet at the youth and family's request, and implement strength-based action plans.
How long are a youth and family in Wraparound?
The national model suggests good outcomes from Wraparound at 18 months, but a youth and family may transition out before that time.
Who pays for this service?
GRN Community Service Board has received funds to promote and pilot the Wraparound process. In addition, youth who are authorized for residential may receive additional services through a federal demonstration waiver known as CBAY (Community Based Alternatives for Youth.)
